General remarks

This data protection declaration is intended to inform the application users about the scope, purpose and usage of personal data collection by Touratech GmbH.

Touratech GmbH as the responsible body (for further details see legal notes) takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this data protection declaration.

This application collects personal data. However, in accordance with Article 25 of the EU GDPR "Data protection by design and by default", we reduced the collection to reasonable minimum.

Personal data are data with which you can be personally identified. This includes identification numbers which do not allow direct identification.

Personal data with direct identifiability

Touratech GmbH does not collect any personal data with direct identifiability.

The representation of map services and the position information of the user is provided via the respective system standard. Apple Maps is used as the map provider for the iOS operating system and Google Maps for the Android operating system. Both Apple Maps and Google Maps collect and process personal data. For more information, see Privacy policy GooglePrivacy policy Apple.

Personal data with indirect identifiability

In order to continuously improve this application, we rely on crash reports. For the collection of this data Microsoft Visual Studio App Center is used as analytics service.

This is an online service specifically provided for this purpose. The application uses this service for crash and error report management. Furthermore, simple and general usage statistics are generated. The report data do not allow direct user identification, because direct identifiable data is not included. Touratech GmbH refrains from collecting data on user behaviour.

Because it is an online service, the user's IP address is transmitted. The transmitted IP addresses will be deleted by Microsoft within a month.

Furthermore, to determine how many users are affected by a single error, an installation ID is processed. The ID is a random number generated on application installation and is deleted when the application is uninstalled.

A checklist provided by Microsoft to determine an EU GDPR relevant usage of the Visual Studio App Center was worked through. No further personal data is processed.

Explanation of device permissions

The application requests device permissions depending on the operating system you are using. Typical permissions are location and storage access permissions. The terms used for permissions are generic terms that summarize a variety of device functionalities. Because of this categorization, misunderstandings are common. The permissions requested by this application are listed below.

The application requests the following permissions: Location, Storage, Bluetooth and Network.

Location:

Location data is only collected and processed to record the route traveled. Both the acquisition and the processing take place exclusively on the device of the user. Location data will not be passed on to Touratech GmbH. Furthermore the permission is needed because Bluetooth© Low Energy (Bluetooth© LE) is used as transmission technology. Special application do use Bluetooth© LE for location identification. However, this is not the case in this application. In case the user denies the location permission Bluetooth© LE transmission can not be used and the application is not usable.

Storage:

The storage access permission controls access to the device storage. The access is required to read and write user-created displays to the device storage. Only application-owned data is processed. In case this permission is denied by the user the application cannot be used as intended.

Bluetooth:

This permission provides access to the device's Bluetooth capabilities. The use of Bluetooth© LE instead of Bluetooth Classic also requires location permission. Without this permission the application is not usable.

Network:

This permission provides access to the network features of the device. The application used Internet transmissions for anonymous crash reporting.
